System Requirements
The system you need depends on whether or not you will be running Dragon NaturallySpeaking™. It's voice recognition engine demands a much more powerful system than MedamationMD™ alone.
When using Dragon, we recommend buying the fastest system possible. Below are the minimums, but spending a little more on a faster processor & more memory will result in a definite increase in productivity.
Without Dragon NaturallySpeaking:
- Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 - 32 bit version, 1GB RAM, 1.8GHz Processor or above
- 1 GB of RAM
- 20 Gigabyte Hard Drive
- CD-ROM Drive
- Video Card set to 1024 x 768 resolution, 16 or 24 bit color
- Printer: high-quality color printer with 2 paper trays
With Dragon NaturallySpeaking:
- Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 - 32 bit version, 1GB RAM, 1.8GHz Processor or above
- 1 GB of RAM
- 20 Gigabyte Hard Drive
- CD-ROM Drive
- Video Card set to 1024 x 768 resolution, 16 or 24 bit color
- Sound Card
- Quality Headset (Refer to Dragon's hardware requirements)
- Printer: high-quality color printer with 2 paper trays
Recommended (with or without Dragon)
- 19 in. or larger monitor
- Digital camera
- Network Interface Card
- Scanner
- Printer: high-quality color printer with 2 paper trays
- Backup System (External hard drive or other)
About Laptops
While laptop computers add a element of mobility, they tend to be somewhat slower than desktop computers with equal specifications. If you are purchasing a laptop, we strongly recommend buying the fastest one you can afford, to obtain the most efficient and accurate voice recognition.
However if you are not using Dragon, just about any laptop will work fine, as long as it has a screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
Software Requirements
- Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 - 32 bit version, 1GB RAM, 1.8GHz Processor or above
- If using Dragon voice recognition software (strongly recommended) it should be installed and "trained" first.
